These things make me so happy, I could cry. Really. Nothing brings me joy like going out in the morning and looking at these gems in my garden, especially at this time of year, when the whole thing is bathed in dew and golden light and bugs and bees and butterflies.
Of course, this morning, I didn't get up till nine, so these pics were taken this afternoon. But I think the effect is the same. I can't take any of the credit for this though - except the dahlias, which I demanded - I think they're the girls who wear too much eyeshadow of the gardening world. A bit brassy and tarty, but with their own, earthy appeal... But the real hero is Mr Khumalo, who somehow manages to make all these lovely things grow:
I could have sworn that, yesterday, when I looked out my window, this tree was completely green. Autumn is on the way - you can smell it, and I pulled a ton of dead leaves out of the swimming pool filter this morning.
